Morales Cocina x Cantina is more than a restaurant.

It’s a love letter to Latin culture, flavour, and connection. Nestled in the heart of Wainwright, Alberta, this cozy, vibrant spot is the creation of husband-and-wife duo David Morales, originally from Mexico, and Shirley Sagastume of Guatemala.  The restaurant is rooted in the flavours, spirit, and street-side soul of Tijuana,  the city where David was raised.

Their journey to Morales began with bold dreams, hard work, and a taco trailer.

In 2021, they launched their first venture , Morales Mexican Grill , a tiny taco trailer with a big heart, parked on a tucked-away downtown patio. It wasn’t long before the scent of tacos started turning heads. People came for the food, but stayed for the warmth, laughter, and community that David and Shirley naturally cultivated.

Today, Morales Cocina x Cantina is their next chapter , a full service brick and mortar restaurant that still carries the soul of that little trailer. Here, the flavours run deep: slow-cooked meats, fresh sauces , cherished family recipes, and authentic dishes made with care and culture. Every bite tells a story of their heritage, their passion, and their love for feeding people well.
